Jacksonville Giants 110 North Dallas Vandals 109

The Jacksonville Giants won the ABA Championship for the second year in a row Sunday afternoon at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena when they beat the North Dallas Vandals in an exciting game 110-109.
After the first quarter, Dallas led 21-20. At the half, Jacksonville led 58-41. Leading scorers for Jacksonville at the half were Anthony Jackson and Jermaine Bell with 11 points each. Will Haynes scored 11 points for Dallas.
The end of the third quarter it was Jacksonville 93 Dallas 76.
It was an exciting fourth quarter with Dallas making a strong comeback.With 7:04 left in the game, it was tied 93-93. With Jacksonville leading 110-109, Dallas had the ball with a few seconds left and they scored, but time expired and Jacksonville became back -to- back ABA champions.
Leading scorer for the game for Dallas, Dijibril Thiam with 21 points( he scored 2 points in the first half). Seven foot center, Chas Mc Farland had 12rebounds and scored 11 points.
High scorer for Jacksonville was seven foot center Jermaine Bell with 23 points and he had 9rebounds. Scoring 22 points each, Ed Horton and Currye Todd.
Jacksonville Giants guard, Tony(Super) Hooper was voted MVP of the final four ABA Tournament.

Jacksonville Giants 117 Colorado Kings 94

The ABA final four was played Thursday at the University of North Florida Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
In the first game, the North Dallas Vandals defeated the South Carolina Warriors 113-110. After the first quarter, Dallas led 35-25. At half time Dallas led 62-41. In the second half The Warriors played better defense and with 2seconds left in the game they had a shot to tie the game with a 3 point shot.
Leading scores for South Carolina, Shane Johnson scored 31 points and Mike Volger scored 19. Jon Pack had a game high 13 rebounds. The leading scorer for the North Dallas Vandals was Lee Brandon with 25 point.
The second game saw The Jacksonville Giants defeat the Colorado Kings 117-94.
Jacksonville got off to a slow start but led after the first quarter 27-11. At the half Jacksonville led 53-41. Colorado played well considering they had seven players play.
Leading scorer for the Kings and the game, Ryan McBride scored 30 points( he made 7 of 14 shots from the 3 point line). Robert Fraizer had a game high 13 rebounds.
Tony(super) Hooper was the high scorer for Jacksonville with 20 points( he had 2points the first half). Currye Todd had 18 points( he made 5 out of 12 shots from the three point line).  Bernard Toombs led Jacksonville in rebounds with 10.

Jacksonville Giants 150 Florida Makos 91

The Jacksonville Giants played the Florida Makos Saturday afternoon at the University of North Florida Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the final home game until the playoffs for Jacksonville this season. The playoffs begin in April and will be held at UNF and the final four to be held at the Jacksonville  Veterans Memorial  Auditorium(April 11-15).
In the first quarter, Jacksonville played tough defense and led after the first quarter, 40-21. At the half, the Giants led 83-41.
After three quarters, Jacksonville led 119-58. Final score Jacksonville 150 Florida Makos 91.
Leading scorer for the Makos was Gavin Gordon with 23 points and he had a game high 12 rebounds. Rodney Walker added 20 points.
Eight Jacksonville players scored in double figures.  Jerrod Tucker scored 32 points. Tony Hooper added  24 points. Grabbing 9 rebounds each for the Giants were Nick Wallery and Terry Martin.

Jacksonville Giants 151 Albany Blazers 112

The Jacksonville Giants played the Albany Blazers Sunday afternoon at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The ABA Power Rankings list Jacksonville as the number 1 ranked team and Albany is ranked 12th.
The first quarter was a defensive battle and Jacksonville led 26-15. At the half the Giants led 51-46.
After three quarters Jacksonville had a 97-82 lead. Final score Jacksonville 151 Albany 112.
Leading scorer for Albany was Darrell Williams with 35 points. Marcus Beretiz added 32 points. Kenneth Ware scored 16 points and had a game high 17 rebounds.
Seven foot center, Jermaine Bell, led Jacksonville in scoring with 37 points and he grabbed 16 rebounds. Ed Horton had 27 points and Anthony Jackson scored 20.
After the game I talked with Albany's Head Basketball Coach, Al Smith. "We did not rebound well(Jacksonville 73 Albany 46) and we did not shoot well, 29% from the three point line, 40% from the field and 58% from the free throw line."

Jacksonville Giants 174 Florida Makos 87

The Jacksonville Giants defeated the Florida Makos174-87 Friday evening at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. A big crowd was at the game for Military Appreciation Night.
Jacksonville led at the half, 79-41.
Leading scorer for the game and Florida, Tennence Smith, scored 36 points. Gertavian Blake, 6'-10" center, scored 18 points.
Jermaine Bell, Jacksonville seven foot center, scored 33 points. Anthony Jackson added 19. Damone Brown was the leading rebounder for the game with 12.
Some interesting statistics: Points off the bench Jacksonville led 94/20. Rebounds for the game Jacksonville 49 Florida 23.

Jacksonville Giants 119 Birmingham Blitz 83

A nice crowd was at the game(staff report attendance was 3,000 plus) Saturday evening when the Jacksonville Giants defeated the Birmingham Blitz 119-83 at Jacksonville Veterans  Memorial Arena.
Just like the game Friday evening, Jacksonville got off to a great start  and blitzed the Blitz with a 33-2 run. Giants led after the first period 38-6. At the half Giants led 55-33.
After three quarters Jacksonville led 91-62.
Leading scorer for Birmingham was L. Gray with 17 points. Franklin pulled down 10 rebounds(2 off and 8 Def).
Currye "CT" Todd led Savannah in scoring with 21 points(he made 5 three point baskets and one of the baskets was a  four point play). Damone Brown scored 18 points. Playing the first half, seven foot center Jermaine Bell had a game high 11 rebounds

Jacksonville Giants 131 Gulf Coast Flash 99

The Jacksonville Giants played the Gulf Coast Flash Friday evening at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Final score Jacksonville 131 Gulf Coast Flash 99.
The Giants got off to another quick start in the first quarter with a 13-0 run. Jacksonville had 18 points when the Gulf Coast Flash scored their first two points. It was Jacksonville leading after the first quarter 41-11. At half time the Giants led 80-43.The Gulf Coast Flash team is noted for their three point shooting were 0-8 from the three point line in the first quarter and were 2-4 in the second.
After three quarters Jacksonville led 108-81 and won 131-99.
Leading scorer for Jacksonville, seven foot center, Jermaine Bell scored 25 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had 4 blocked shots. Tony Hooper added 22 points. Anthony Jackson had 10 assists and scored 17 points.
After the game I talked with Jacksonville Giants Head Coach, Kevin Waters. "We played great the first half and fell asleep the second half. Tomorrow at 7:00 pm  we have a big game as  we play a good team, the Birmingham Blitz. Our record now is 15-1."
